Position Statement – nursing associates in community nursing settings
7 February 2024
The Queen’s Nursing Institute has published a position statement on the issue of the safe and effective deployment of Nursing Associates in community nursing settings.
We have drawn up the statement following the commissioning of educational courses which are shared and delivered conjointly for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nursing Associates.
This reflects a wider concern around confusion about the relative roles and responsibilities of RNs and Nursing Associates among employers and the public.
The QNI is very concerned about growing inappropriate deployment of Nursing Associates as a substitution for RNs, which is suggested by job advertisements.
If you would like to contact the QNI about these issues, please email us at mail@qni.org.uk in confidence.
