Viv has been a Fellow of QNI since 2000. She is a Registered Nurse and Health Visitor, and her clinical practice was in children’s services and community health care.
She has BA and MSc in health and social policy and is a Visiting Professor at Kings College London. Viv has held management, professional leadership and nurse executive roles in NHS provider and commissioner organisations.
In 2007 she was appointed Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at DH with lead for public health, primary and community care, and services for children. In 2012 Viv became Director of Nursing for DH and Public Health England, maximising nursing and midwifery roles in health protection improvement and leading programmes for improving the health of children and young people.
Viv is married with two grown-up children and lives in Oxford.
