ILC Annual International Conference 2024
7-8 June 2024
The theme of the International Learning Collaborative (ILC) 2024 Conference is: Empowering Care Excellence – Embedding fundamental care into practice, research, education and policy.
Speakers Announced!
We are delighted that Professor Alison Leary and Dr Crystal Oldman will both be speaking at the ILC Conference. See the Key Speakers Announcement and Draft Programme.
This is a great opportunity to meet and network with other practitioners, learn about the latest developments and opportunities in nursing and healthcare, and visit one of England’s most historic cities.
Care professionals are hungry for the opportunity to claim back their central role in delivering fundamental care. Nurses, allied health professionals, midwives and care workers are reclaiming the care agenda, and their priority is to see fundamental care return to being the priority in all care activity, with the person being cared for at the centre.

About the International Learning Collaborative (ILC)
The International Learning Collaborative was founded in 2008 at Green Templeton College, Oxford University in response to two key issues:
- The Francis Inquiry into Care at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust
- The growth of Academic Health Science Centres
The ILC held its first meeting in 2008, hosted by Green Templeton College, and has since held an international Conference annually, held in alternate years at Oxford. The ILC aims to globally prioritise person-centered fundamental care through education, research, advocacy, and policy, achieving its mission by valuing, practicing, and researching fundamental care.
From the moment I stepped into the conference venue, I was immediately struck by the vibrant atmosphere of knowledge and camaraderie. Meeting so many like-minded individuals, each driven by a passion for enhancing their field of care, was an enriching experience beyond words. The diversity of perspectives and backgrounds represented there was a testament to the universal importance of compassionate and effective care across all walks of life.
