    Paula is an experienced District Nurse and has served in various roles in her career. Paula’s clinical experience includes positions as a District Nurse, Community Matron, and Clinical Practice Educator. Her commitment to excellence in patient care and education has been a focus of her career, making significant contributions to the development and mentoring of nursing staff. Paula has a passion for project work and has been instrumental in implementing innovative solutions to improve healthcare delivery. Paula enjoys supporting Community Nursing Teams with caseload management and optimising resources to ensure effective and efficient patient care. Currently, she serves as the Safer Staffing Implementation Lead at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, where she is leading the implementation of enhanced staffing strategies to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
  • Paul Vaughan, National Deputy Director, RN, MSc. – Community Nursing and Primary Care Nursing
    Paul works with NHS England as the National Deputy Director, Community Nursing and Primary Care Nursing. Previously, Paul was the Director of Nursing, Transformation within the organisation and led the development and delivery of the GPN Ten Point Plan and the national initiative on the perception of nursing known as NextGen Nurse. He initiated and co-produced the national nursing sponsorship programme, an evidence-based framework that enables executive white leaders to promote the careers of aspiring Global Majority nurse leaders and midwives. While working as the RCN Regional Director, West Midlands Region, Paul devised the RCNs Cultural Ambassador Programme. Paul completed a Masters in Management with the University of Liverpool and his dissertation focused on the factors that enable nursing staff to raise concerns in their workplace. Paul is the Northern Regions elected member of the RCNs governing body and is the current Chair of RCN Council
  • Ann Casey MBE, RN, FRCN Deputy Director of the CNO Safer Staffing Faculty and Course Director for the MSc in Healthcare workforce planning
    Ann is the Deputy Director of the CNO Safer Staffing Faculty and Course Director for the MSc in Healthcare workforce planning, delivery and assurance run jointly by NHSE and Birmingham City University. Ann’s specialist clinical background in renal transplantation, dialysis and urology where she worked across many of the London Trusts as well as Oxford throughout the 80s and 90s. Ann was part of the team that developed the SNCT for Adult in patient wards and she subsequently led the development of the AAU, CYP and ED SNCTs and CNSST as well as supporting a Canadian healthcare system to ensure the SNCT was aligned to their systems. Ann received an MBE in the Queens New Years honours 2018 for her services to Nursing and was awarded a FRCN in 2021.
