New Book Celebrates Achievements of Community Nursing

The QNI has launched a new online book of 20 short stories, written by Queen’s Nurses, about their work delivering healthcare to some of the most vulnerable people in society.
The book is the result of a collaboration between The QNI and American author, speaker and activist Suzanne Gordon, who worked with the Queen’s Nurses to develop their stories at a workshop in London in 2019 and subsequently online over several months. Publication of the book was delayed by the pandemic and the charity chose to launch the collection at its annual conference in 2021. Suzanne Gordon will be speaking on the third day of the conference, which has an international theme.
The Queen’s Nurses represent diverse specialisms and taken together the book provides a glimpse into a world of professional expertise and person-centred care that is not often portrayed in the wider media.
I heartily thank the QNI for giving me the opportunity to learn so much about the work of community nurses in the UK. I wish we had a system like this in the United States. The work of community nurses is critical, and I applaud and honour the nurses I worked with for so long. Your stories are magnificent.
