QNI Fellow to Lead Foundation of Nursing Studies
15 March 2019
Joanne Bosanquet MBE has been announced as the new chief executive of The Foundation of Nursing Studies.
She is both a Queen’s Nurse and a Fellow of The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
Between 2006-2013, Joanne worked as a Specialist Nurse, then Nurse Consultant in Health Protection at the Health Protection Agency, England. Since 2013 she has been Deputy Chief Nurse at Public Health England.
Ms Bosanquet commented: ‘The verbal announcement of my appointment was very kindly made by Ruth May, our new CNO, during her Summit speech. I can see clearly where national nursing charities have a critical role as key members of #teamCNO. Collective leadership is the only viable option we have if we are to tackle the wicked issues and support our profession to respond to population need and focus on health and wellbeing’.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE commented: ‘My congratulations to Joanne on being appointed to the Chief Executive role at the Foundation of Nursing Studies. Joanne is an excellent example of a Queen’s Nurse and QNI Fellow taking on an executive leadership position. We see Queen’s Nurses now in executive leadership positions in the voluntary sector, social care, primary care, education and the NHS, demonstrating both the breadth and expertise of our fabulous nursing community. We wish Joanne every success with this new step in her career and I personally look forward to working with Joanne as fellow chief executive.’
Ms Bosanquet became a registered nurse in 1992, later studying at postgraduate level to become a health visitor at King’s College London, specialising in vulnerable groups, dispersed asylum-seeking families and unaccompanied minors. She is a visiting professor at the University of Surrey, and an honorary fellow at the University of Greenwich and London Metropolitan University. Joanne was awarded an MBE for services to nursing and healthcare in June 2013.
She will take up her new role in June 2019.
