Dr June Crown was appointed as a trustee of the Institute in 1982.
She was instrumental in making nurse prescribing a reality, negotiating with doctors, pharmacists and nurses to modernise healthcare in this way. She also forged links between British and Russian healthcare systems, through Age Concern England and the Moscow Red Cross.
In September 2009 she was presented with the Gold Badge of the Institute, its highest honour.
