Lecture by Professor Alison Leary
Professor Alison Leary MBE spoke on the highly topical subject, ‘Thinking differently about nursing workforce challenges” at The QNI’s inaugural William Rathbone X Lecture on the 9th June 2023 in London.
Professor Leary is a QNI Fellow and Director of the QNI’s International Community Nursing Observatory, and Chair of Healthcare and Workforce Modelling at London South Bank University.
Alison undertakes projects around the modelling of complex systems in healthcare. Her areas of expertise include in the complexity of healthcare, mathematical models and data science. Her research is always focussed on the implications for patient safety and the impact of the nursing workforce on the experience and health outcomes of the people they care for. She is a registered nurse and is particularly interested in understanding specialist and advanced practice.
The QNI’s International Community Nursing Observatory (ICNO) was launched in 2019, and was set up to analyse the trends in the community nursing workforce data in greater depth, to aid understanding of the challenges faced by services and to thereby influence policy on the development of the existing and new workforce entrants.
