QNI Appoints Five New Members of Staff

The QNI has announced the appointment of five new members of staff: Louise Bellamy, Programme Administrator; Gabriella Acen, Programme Administrator; Kendra Schneller, Homeless and Inclusion Health Project Lead; Eve Thrupp, Nursing Programmes Manager (Leadership) and Dr Amanda Young, Nursing Programmes Manager (Innovation).
Louise Bellamy joined the QNI from the financial industry where she worked within the business support team. She has experience in a wide range of activities including senior leadership support, event planning and facilitation, internal communications, learning and development, recruitment and general administrative duties. She will be supporting the Care Home Nurse Network and Leadership Programmes as well as other projects.
Gabriella Acen joins the QNI from Ealing Council where she led a mentoring project for looked after children and care leavers. Previously, she graduated in 2016 with a degree in International Tourism Management. Gabriella will be supporting the Community Nursing Executive Network (CNEN); the Homeless and Inclusion Health Network as well as other QNI Award programmes.
I am delighted to welcome our five new members of staff to the QNI. They each bring significant skills and will contribute greatly to the QNI's vision of excellent community nursing for people in their homes and communities.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, QNI Chief ExecutiveKendra Schneller is a nurse practitioner and has been working with people experiencing homelessness including clients with addictions and refugee and asylum seekers in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham for almost 14 years. In 2018, Kendra jointly led on a successful street outreach service, which was initially funding as a pilot project from the Queen’s Nursing Institute and the Burdett Trust for Nursing. Kendra is also a Queen’s Nurse. She will be leading on the QNI’s Homeless and Inclusion Health programme.
Eve Thrupp has worked in the community – both rurally and in inner-city locations – as a school nurse for the past 10 years. She has gained experience in more specialist roles working as a Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Children, Adults and Patients with Learning Disabilities. Eve is also a Queen’s Nurse. She will be working alongside Sharon Aldridge-Bent on a wide range of programmes including Leadership and the work of the Long Covid Expert Nurses Group.
Dr Amanda Young most recently worked at Anglia Ruskin University teaching on the Advanced Practice Programme. Prior to this, she worked as a District Nurse, focusing on end of life care and moving to NELFT in East London to become the Lead Palliative Care nurse, working strategically to improve end of life care across the organisation. She also taught pre registration adult nursing, and palliative care alongside Advanced Practice. Amanda will be working alongside Sue Boran on delivering a wide range of programmes, including the nurse-led innovation projects and supporting our work with Care Home Nurses, an area which was the focus of Amanda’s PhD.
