Community Children’s Matron Launches 12 in 12 Fundraising Challenge
19 December 2024
The QNI’s Community Children’s Nursing Project Lead Rebecca Daniels has launched a ’12 in 12′ fundraising campaign. Rebecca will take part in a fundraising activity in every month of 2025 to raise money for the QNI’s Support for Nurses programme.
The Support for Nurses programme provides invaluable assistance for the nursing profession:
- Financial support for nurses in times of life crises, such as domestic abuse and significant physical and mental ill health
- A Keep In Touch scheme, which connects retired nurses with a Queen’s Nurse volunteer for regular phone calls
- Grants responding to current circumstances including flood and storm grants.
Along with her passion for community children’s nursing, the Community Children’s Matron is an avid runner, so there will be a physical element in each of the 12 challenges. Kicking off in January, Rebecca will be joined by fellow QNI staff for the London Winter Walk half marathon. Throughout the year, Rebecca’s challenges will include 100 squats a day for 31 days, running a half marathon, and taking part in a Serpentine Swim, before rounding off the year with a Santa Run.
Rebecca is encouraging friends, family, colleagues, community children’s nurses and Queen’s Nurses across the UK to join in the challenge. Whether you join Becks for one event or all 12, participants will be joined by a group of supportive, like-minded individuals passionate about raising money to support community nurses. Those wishing to participate but unable to attend on the day, are invited to take part in their local area and donate their registration fee.

The QNI has been an incredible support for the Community Children's Nurses network and enabled us to make significant changes in community children's nursing.
As a charity, the QNI has an incredible national influence and its Support for Nurses programme is a lifeline for both current and retired nurses. This fundraising challenge is about raising essential money and awareness for Support for Nurses, so we can continue to emotionally and financially support nurses that reach out to us.
Together we can continue to support our amazing community nursing workforce to keep going, stay well and improve the lives of our community across the lifespan.
