September Application Deadline for QNI Project Funding

The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) has announced its deadline for applications to fund local nurse-led projects aimed at improving the quality of care.

The QNI is offering funding of up to £5000 to help nurses to develop innovative projects to improve care for specific groups of people known to be at risk of poor health. Alongside the funding, the successful nurses will benefit from professional development workshops to develop their leadership skills.

The funding criteria supports inclusion health nursing projects including those aimed at people who are homeless, Gypsy, Roma or Travellers, asylum seekers or in prison. The application deadline is 29 September 2017. The QNI welcomes applications from nurses who have not run their own projects before and up to 10 projects can be funded.

Previous QNI funded projects in inclusion health have been very varied. They have included a sock exchange and foot care clinic for the homeless, a Gypsy and Traveller health literacy programme, and a wound care clinic for people with addiction problems.
The new funding programme is part of the QNI’s Fund for Innovation and Leadership programme, this year supported by Oak Foundation. Since 1990 the QNI has helped hundreds of nurses turn innovative ideas into reality, benefiting thousands of patients and improving nursing practice in diverse fields of healthcare.
