International Community Nurse of the Year Award
11 November 2021
The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) has created a new Award to recognise Internationally Educated Nurses working in community settings in England.
Internationally Educated Nurses who have worked in any health or social care setting in the community in England for 1 to 3 years are eligible for nomination by their employers.
The Award winner will be chosen by a panel comprised of Internationally Educated Nurses working at a senior level in England, a QNI Fellow, and an independent patient representative.
I am delighted to announce this prestigious new Award for an Internationally Educated Nurse in a community setting in England. I would encourage managers to consider if they have a member of staff who they can nominate for this Award, which will be a great accolade for the individual nurse as well as the employing organisation.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief ExecutiveInternationally educated nurses play a vital role in delivering care in community settings, with patients and their families benefiting from their skills, expertise and experience.
This award follows a programme of work being delivered in partnership by the Queen’s Nursing Institute and NHS England and NHS Improvement to recruit internationally educated nurses to work in community settings and provide them with support. The programme will help to strengthen community services, our support to new international nurses and care for patients across the country.
I am incredibly proud of our international nurses and I’m delighted that the Queen’s Nursing Institute is recognising the invaluable contribution they make in the community and to the wider nursing workforce.
The chosen Award winner will be honoured at the QNI’s Awards Ceremony on 13th December.
