Staff and Fellows of the QNI Strongly Represented at Nursing Times Awards

Staff and Fellows of the QNI and Queen’s Nurses were very well represented at the Nursing Times Awards, held in London on 30th October.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, the charity’s Chief Executive said, ‘It is marvellous to see recognition of excellent community nursing from all over the UK in these Awards. There was an outstanding contribution from Queen’s Nurses, QNI staff and Fellows and we are delighted by the CNOs’ accolade for QNI Trustee, Dr David Foster.’
Dr David Foster OBE was given the Chief Nursing Officers’ Award for Lifetime Achievement. Dr Foster is a QNI Trustee. Jean White (CNO Wales and QNI Fellow) spoke on behalf of the four CNOs of the UK when introducing the award and his citation was read by Dame Donna Kinnair, QNI Fellow (main picture, with Steve Ford, Editor of Nursing Times).
Dr Joan Myers OBE, QN presented the Child and Adolescent Services Award. Whittington Health won the award and Michelle Johnson QN is the Chief Nurse at the Trust. Whittington Health also won the award also for Respiratory Nursing.
Dr Candice Pellett OBE, QN presented the Enhancing Patient Dignity Award to Care UK, for enhancing the care of young people in custody.
Sue Boran QN and Director of Nursing Programmes at the QNI presented the Award for Managing Long-term Conditions to King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Agnes Fanning QN and Project Manager at the QNI presented the Nursing in the Community Award to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust.
Professor Tony Butterworth, QNI Fellow, gave the Learning Disability Award to Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Their winning team is led by Queen’s Nurse Jo Wilcox.
Liz Alderton QN is a District Nurse in East London and was in the winning team for the Innovation in Chronic Wound Management Award.
Trish McDermott QN is a Consultant Nurse Specialist at Guernsey Health and Social Care. The Guernsey team received an award in three categories – Infection Prevention & control; Emergency & Critical Care; Continence Promotion & Care.
