The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) is continuing to support community nurses who have been affected by the recent flooding.

Large parts of the UK have been affected by the recent floods with wide areas underwater. The latest storm has seen widespread disruption where dozens of people have been rescued from vehicles trapped in flood waters. Firefighters and police have also carried out evacuations in many counties in England and Wales.

In 2023 the QNI were able to support a small number of community nurses that had to evacuate their homes and were living in temporary accommodation aswell as a few that had done irreparable damage to their own cars whilst working in the floods.

The charity is again offering up to £500 to any Registered Nurse working in the community who has been severely affected by flooding. Community nurses would include general practice nurses, district nurses, care home nurses, school nurses, health visitors and others.

To receive the funds, nurses will need their manager’s verification that they are currently working as a nurse in the community and that they have been severely impacted by the flood. To apply for a form please contact Justine.curtis@qni.org.uk.
