William Rathbone Award 2024 – Nominate by 8 April
21 March 2024
The QNI recognises the necessity of excellent leadership at a strategic level in the delivery of nursing care in the community.
The William Rathbone X Award for Excellence in Nurse Leadership has been created by the Queen’s Nursing Institute to celebrate and raise the profile of nurses in senior executive roles. Nominations are currently being accepted for this prestigious award in 2024.
Nurses working for not-for-profit providers of NHS-funded community health services, including integrated community and Mental Health trusts, integrated hospital and community trusts, local government and social care are eligible. To nominate your Executive Nurse Leader, please complete the online form by Monday 8 April.
The Award winner will receive £500 and a certificate from the QNI. The Award will be presented on Friday 10 May 2024, at the William Rathbone X Annual Lecture in London. Nominators are very welcome to join us at this event.
The Award is named after Mr William Rathbone OBE, known as William Rathbone X (the tenth) as he was the tenth member of his family with that name. He served as a QNI Council member from 1974 until his death in 2022 and had a lifelong passion for nursing and healthcare. He was also the great-great-grandson of the William Rathbone who, working with Florence Nightingale, created modern district nursing in 1859 and who went on to found the QNI in 1887.
