Catherine Walshe has been a fellow of the QNI since 2012. She has a clinical background in nursing, particularly community nursing, and has worked in a number of NHS posts in hospital and community palliative care in Cornwall, Brighton and Worcestershire.
She moved to an academic career, completing her PhD at the University of Manchester and working there for a number of years.
Catherine is currently Senior Lecturer in Palliative Care and Co-Director of the International Observatory on End of Life Care at Lancaster University. Catherine’s research interests reflect this clinical background, and her studies frequently explore issues of primary palliative care. Catherine is also Editor in Chief of the journal Palliative Medicine.
Catherine lives in Cheshire, and is kept busy outside work with four children, a dog and attempts to become a slightly faster runner.
