Jill Macleod Clark became a Fellow of QNI in 2004 and has a background in clinical nursing and social psychology.
She worked in a range of nursing roles including being a Practice Nurse for several years. Jill has held a number of academic leadership and advisory roles in the UK, acting as Dean of Health Sciences in Southampton, Chair of the UK Council of Deans of Health and spearheading a non-medical clinical academic leadership development strategy. She is a member of the current UK Research Excellence Framework Panel for Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Professions.
Her academic and research profile has focused on health promotion, communication in health care and health outcomes and she has published widely. She was awarded a DBE for services to nursing in 2000. Jill is currently Professor of Nursing at the University of Southampton and is contributing to key policy initiatives linked to modernising non-medical careers, health care workforce reform and building leadership capacity in higher education and health in under-represented areas. She is a member of ‘Women on Boards’ and is actively engaged in coaching and mentoring academics and health professionals aspiring to executive or strategic leadership roles.
