Ruth Northway is Professor Emerita of Learning Disability Nursing at the University of South Wales.
Prior to working in nurse education, she worked as a community learning disability nurse. In her teaching career she contributed to both undergraduate programmes and post registration community nursing courses. Her research interests include the health and well-being of people with learning disabilities, and she has authored many papers, books, and book chapters. She has contributed to several UK wide working groups focused on the development of educational standards and practice development in nursing. This includes working with the QNI. In 2017 she was awarded an OBE for her contribution to learning disability nursing.
