School Nurses
School nurses work with pupils, teachers and parents to promote good health and wellbeing in school age children and young people.
School nurses provide a wide variety of services, such as giving health and sex education in schools, carrying out developmental screening, undertaking health interviews, and administering immunisation programmes.
School nurses can be employed either by the local health authority, primary care trust, community trust or sometimes by the school itself.
The QNI has developed a free online resource for nurses who are new to the school nursing service, or who are considering this as a career move. Click here to read more.
