Dr Ben Bowers QN is a Wellcome Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary Nurse Consultant in Palliative Care.
Ben is a clinical academic community nurse with 19 years of experience specializing in palliative and end-of-life care. A Queen’s Nurse since 2009, Ben is dedicated to advancing person-centered care through community nursing research. He co-founded and leads the UK-wide Community Nursing Research Forum, collaborating closely with the QNI to build a supportive community for nursing research.
Recognized among the 75 nurses who have significantly impacted the NHS, Ben received the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award in 2022 and the European Association for Palliative Care Early Researcher Award in 2023. His current interdisciplinary programme of research at Cambridge focuses on improving end-of-life symptom management for adults at home, supported by a Wellcome Fellowship to explore safe, timely use of injectable medications.
