Lesley Benham qualified as an Enrolled Nurse Psychiatry in1978, completed RMN Conversion in 1996 then focused upon dementia care. As Team Leader of Melcombe Day Hospital, Weymouth she obtained a QNI / Alzheimer’s Society Award in 2003.
Lesley disseminates practice by teaching in her holidays, generates income for 3 charities and secured 7 local/national awards. She was Nurse of the Year South-Department of Health 2005 and gained an MBE for services to dementia in 2011; she feels extremely honoured having been recognised for her work.
Lesley’s current employer is Dorset HealthCare NHS Foundation Trust. She adores her family having become a proud grandparent and enjoys gardening.
