Claire became a Fellow of the QNI in 2013. She completed the integrated nursing degree at the University of Edinburgh and qualified and worked as a District Nurse before moving into research work.
Claire was appointed Professor of Health Care Research at the Centre for Research in Primary and Community Care at the University of Hertfordshire in 2005. Her research focuses on the oldest old and how the National Health Service works with social care and independent third sector providers to support this population.
She has published widely and is the co-editor with Professor Vari Drennan of the second edition of Oxford Handbook of Primary Care and Community Nursing published by Oxford University Press. She was a founder member of the Enabling Research in Care Homes (ENRICH) initiative that arose in response to the Ministerial Advisory Group on Dementia Research. Claire lives in Hertfordshire and is married with 3 almost adult daughters.
