Niall has been Chief Executive of the GMC, the independent regulator of the medical profession in the UK, since January 2010.
He joined from The King’s Fund, the leading independent think tank and development organisation, where he was Chief Executive for six years (2004-2009). He is also currently Chair of the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities and Chairman of the Leeds Castle Foundation based in Kent – the charity is responsible for the upkeep and preservation of the castle and its estate.
